Trying to grow a lifestyle blog…

I started this blog as a way to share my experiences good, bad, and ugly in life. It was my outlet to get out of my own head from all my daily stresses. It’s been put on the back burner for the past few months because my work life has just been completely insane lately. I haven’t had time to think about a blog post let alone write one. I’m trying to get better about doing it. I’d like to blog about my travels when I actually get time to explore.

I’ve lived in the south shore of Massachusetts for almost a year now and I still am ashamed to say I have not even seen Cape Cod. I haven’t seen Martha’s Vineyard. I haven’t been to Rhode Island which isn’t even that out of the way to get to. I have seen the city of Boston multiple times over because I can take the train very easily from my apartment into the city. All I have seen of Plymouth are my jobs other locations that are in Plymouth. I haven’t even seen the beach…yes I know and now summer is coming to an end and I have yet to even set foot in the sand.

This weekend though I have family coming to see me and I know that they are going to be willing to do some sight seeing. I may actually be able to have some adventures to blog about this weekend with some pictures that I’ll be taking. Luckily I have a tablet and smart phone so I won’t have to lug around a laptop when I go on these travels. I’d like to travel to Europe next year and go to London or Ireland and write a few blog posts about things that I see over there. I just need to save up the money to be able to afford to travel at this point in time.

My biggest struggle is growing this blog and making it into something that people will want to read. I know that some of my recent posts have been my opinion about different topics and that’s fine. I know during hockey season you will see some very strong opinions start to pop up under the sports category and that’s just around the corner now! I have a Facebook page for my blog but I don’t know how else to get the word out there. I have it post to my personal twitter feed when I have a new post. I know that social media is really the best tool for getting the word out there when it comes to your blog. I was thinking about having business cards made up for me to be able to hand out to people that I meet when I’m out places.

I’m really at a loss on how to get more active followers and more interest to my blog. I know that it’s just a hobby but this blog is more than a hobby for me. It’s my way to block out what is going on around me for the few minutes that I’m spending writing a new post. It’s a way for me to share experiences and advice that may help someone else who is going through something that I’m going through. If I can help just one person with a post about my own struggles with celiac disease than I’ve done something good.

Any advice my dear readers?
